About Large haystack in the Pacific Ocean...
I decided to give it a "used and abused" vintage look with smudged areas, noise and grungy details...also changed color shot to this tone in Paintshop pro8...

Feedback appreciated

this shot is beautiful, i love the softness of it, and the almost scratchy effect is beautiful. have you seen the photography of Sarah Moon? your images remind me of some of her work, a fantastic compliment, as she is my mostest favouritest photographer!! it reminds me almost of a vintage, aged post card or something...breath taking.
sorry it took me so long to reply to you, as i said, was a bit of a party lastnight, so didn't get up till v late today, sorry! hope you recieved the attachment ok

This looks like a photo/painting from the late 1800's. A work of art Gayle

hi,Kev...thanks for your feedback...no sharpening involved as would defeat the purpose of intent...original shot is the sharper/focused one which to me was just another seascape image...i often need "unique arty"..LOL..

The sepia tone and the grainy look really make this shot look old. The wave does a good job at letting you know what you are looking at before going into the distance but I think it could be just a little bit sharper. Keep up the good work.

You have certainly achieved your goal, Gayle...It looks like it has seen better days! Ann's comment is interesting, and so true! Now that things have gotten so high tech we long for the "good ol' days." Go figure!

You certainly achieved yor objective here Gayle. It's used, abused, scratched and run over with the family van full of little leaguers. Yes I would say it worked very well. It looks like a photo I would find in my great great grandmothers collection of old photos. Your deteriroation techniques worked a treat here. good natural tones. Great work.

Footnote...we spend years and a lot of money to lear how to restore photos from this to today's standards and here wea re trying to achieve the nostalgic effect intentionally. IT's also ironic how all we had for years was B&W and the world was WOWed when we got colour TV and film and now it's like we got we wanted and don't want what we got. LOL

I really like what you've done here and how you've done it.

Cheers - Ann :)
