Yes, Rob. This is entirely due to JPEG compression artifacts. This is the main drawback to the unlimited pixel dimensions of the new panorama format...

The full size panarama is awesome Roger and the mistiness on the river looks great. I am sure that when you go for more of these huge shots you will have the answer to this one's unfortunate sky. Great stuff...Best wishes to you....Ray

I'm SO glad you liked it, Cessy. I thought it was very special. I'm disappointed with the way the sky has come out, though...

No, John, not from a fisheye, just a 45mm lens but with a negative 65mm wide rather than 36mm... sort of MF on 35mm film, a Fuji/Hasselblad speciality. Makes the lens the equivalent of a 25mm in horizontal angle of field. So you get the typical exaggerated sloping of verticals.

Now THAT is a JPEGed sky! Once again we learn how difficult it is to capture fog/mist in a way that it captures us when we see it. Is this a slice out of a much larger fish eye like shot? I notice how the buildings at the edges lean in opposite directions. Cheers fella John B

Hmmmm. Well, I can see one huge problem with this image. The JPEG artifacts in the sky! The original uncompressed image has delicate, continuous graduations. not a patchwork quilt like this version. Oh dear...
