About This is another shot of a friend's son at our family pond. This was back in December when there was a light skiff of snow on the ground.
I couldn't decide on color/b&w...I'll post the b/w below.

Hi again Susie.

Now THIS is how your eyes see the image! Focused on the subject and a bit of a hazy, fuzzy background.

Just beautiful. As I know I have already commented.
Congrats on the Critique of the Day BTW!

This is such a lovely shot Susie. I love the nice soft colors and the composition is great. I really couldn't decide between the black and white or this, but I think that I'm leaning towards the color version.

How do you get your pictures to say "critique only"? I couldn't figure it out when I was trying to change mine to critique only.

I will have a few photographs on display at the Roeder Home Student Art Exhibit from February 14th through February 28th. I'm excited to see how it goes!

Hi Trace,
I didn't even realize that you had posted a sepia version until someone mentioned it in another comment. I do like this. I actually had a sepia version ready and for some reason it just didn't grab me. I think yours has more black in it and I like that better than the one I did.
Thanks for playing, I'm always up for it!

Hi Susie, wonderful shot of this little man. The b/w version is great, but I still prefer the colored version because of the nice color of his cheeks.

Hi Susie...either one for me. I love seeing the results that other people achieve in mono but I still have the habit to major in colour tones. I love this casual and relaxed pose; he has such a wonderful facial expression. Great details and a perfect pof and dof. Well done to you my sweet..Very best wishes as always....Ray

As much as I don't like black and white they are equally attractive. I like blurry backgrounds with portraits of people. You tend to focus more on the person. This one is done very well.

Hi Susie! Hard to choose between colour vs. B&W. Somehow I like the subtle colours in the main upload very much. A very moody shot with beautiful light; good work!

I like how you have composed this photo and the choice of focal length to capture it. I think I will vote against the majority, I want it as it is, in color. The specs of green and the highlight are more pronounce in color without any distraction from the main subject, the pinkness of his cheek is what captures the eye in color. just my opinion, congrats, very nice shot!

I think I will go with blk and white. It seems to have a little more sparkle.. Nice pose and capture. Don.

Hi Susie! That is an adorable child. I like the b&w version the best. The colors are a bit dull in the color version.

Gorgeous portrait Susie, it looks like a painting! The white hat, mittens, and sweater have lovely contrast and detail next to the rosy cheeks, and complete the in-focus part of the picture with the little brown buttons. The DOF and background are superb, in light colors. It's almost like a B & W colorized portrait with a color background. I don't know why I like this color version more, it's pretty sophisticated. I also like the B & W version, it looks more vintage, you can't tell when it was taken. Still I think I favor the color, it places him in a certain light and season, and it all adds up. Excellent handling of light & shade, and great composition! I like this one a lot - I can see an award coming! Ina

I think I prefer it in black and white as the colour version is just a little on the cool/cyan side for my taste. Great image with excellent composition and feeling!

Gorgeous shot with a perfect bokeh! Looks like it must have been a great cloudy day for portraits outside. I like the color version best, but it is a wonderful shot both ways. Very well done!

I usually always opt for colour over B&W but in this case the B&W is gorgeous too. My decision is no decision. I love them both. :) Great help aren't i? (hehe) I love the composition of thisa one and he has such a lovely natural expression on his face. It's a beautiful shot Susie. Well done.

Cheers - Ann :)

This one looks great in colour Susie!

It's the fact that the colours go so well together. They are nice and rich. Beautiful and clear on the charming subject matter.
The DOF is perfect in this one too and has a lot to do with the success of the image.

This one also lends itself perfectly to the B&W image. There is no right or wrong, just different:)

I think most will prefer the colour. The light is also just right and helps the colour to not over-power the image.

I thought it was color all the way, Sissy, until I opened up the b&w and now I'm not sure. I might lean slightly toward the color. I had forgetten how much I love this shot! I think it's probably on par with the other one that won the award! I just LOVE the expression on his face, and the dof is perfect! I'm really glad that you posted this one!
