About ...is Through

Ain't that the way of it, though? This is the Traffic Bridge (sometimes erroneously referred to as the Victoria Avenue Bridge) which has been closed to traffic following the discovery that corrosion has caused its structure to deteriorate to the point where it was not safe. They still don't know whether to fix it or let it fall into the river. But it is Saskatoon's oldest standing bridge, and has a great deal of historical significance, so likely some effort will be made to rehabilitate it.

Amazing picture- classic and should be at the start of a film to unfold! Colours, angles textures- wonderful.

Well no... LOL... I was on my way to a meeting and just stopped to grab a few pictures, so it was pretty much a case of getting what was available. But I like the fact that she is almost at the other end - I feel that it forces the viewer to consider the bridge in its entirety, taking you right from one end of it to the other.

Hi Jon,
I bet 9 out of 10 people would walk the same way. At least people of driving age! We are creatures of habit. When you did this shot, did you consider taking some with the walker a little closer to the camera? About half way across the bridge perhaps?

Thanks, Andre. I think this might be a good example of how adding a human figure to a landscape can improve. Wihout her it is not nearly as interesting. Curious, isn't it, that even on a totally empty roadway, closed to all traffic and with no other walker around, the person on it chose to walk in the right hand lane (she is coming toward me).

Cheers,

Jon

Nice balance to this one Jon.
A stark industrial look, dwarfing the lone human element.
It was lucky that the single figure is placed just off centre like that to give that added intrest.
