Hi Angela, thanks for the compliments. I use white lightning strobes. This one was the Ultrazap 2400 but I also use Alien Bees. I have a 6 foot soft box attached fairly close and to the side of the subject and a 6 foot silver reflector for fill camera right. I double check the camera's monitor frequently to check the light/shadows but I have to be quick with these little ones!

Gorgeous Louise> I'm just getting into these backdrop portrait type shots and would love it if you'd share your lightening here. I know some people do a lot of natural lifht with these backdrops and I do love that but I would like to also try some with lights just don't know what kind to buy. Thanks for any advice. I definitely love whatever lighting you used here. This is the look I'm looking for. Angela

Thanks Howie...I uploaded this from my laptop lastnight and now that I see it on my calibrated monitor I find the tones a little on the strong side. I don't think sepia tones need to be restricted from child portraits however.

Thanks, we did consider taking the diaper off for some but she was a very active child. I don't think I would post a naked baby photo as you never know what kind of reaction that will render.

brilliant tones. It almost looks like film.
Just the perfect cute post for the baby. Such a sweet shot. I like it a lot. If I had been the client I would have taken off the daiper.

Classic portrait capture. Personally I think sepia is a little old for a child so young and possibly black and white would work better imho :)
