Nice start sofie! Nice how you left the nails pink. Are you using Photo shop? or CS2? The only thing i might say to do with this photo is to try to darken the brightness to the left of her face. Well, for cameras, it depends on what ya wanna spend. I was very happy with my Kodak DX6490, and it's wonderful color and great telephoto lens. ($400). I grew out of it, and moved on to the Canon 20D digital SLR, and it is all I could have ever dreamed or hoped for, although much more expensive. Honestly, I probably couldn't have afforded it, but I ended up winning grand prize in a local photo contest (with my Kodak) and used the winnings to move up to a pro-caliber camera ($1,400).
I can honestly say it's more about the 'eye' than the camera, though. Keep experimenting and shooting, and experience will help you grow as a photographer.
You also can't go wrong here at Usefilm! There are some SERIOUSLY talented shooters here, who are willing to share their time and experiences.
