Taken at first light at White Sands National Monument. An off season monsoon rolled through the area providing a unique photographic opportunity. White Sands sand actually turns tan when wet. The sand also appears extra golden from the red light present in the early morning sunlight. It should be noted that this composition was chosen intentionally... I've tinkered with cropping the upper portions of the sky and the image doesn't have the same impact in my eyes as it becomes too symetrical.
