I was inspired by your "Streets of New York" to check out your protfolio. You have so many outstanding pictures, but this is my absolute favorite. It is so much more than color in a color free zone. I can't read what is written on the pillars, but I know they represent so many deaths, and this little girl is alive - so very much alive. The picture moved me deeply.

My first visit to your portfolio. I came because of the Donor recs. Am surprised by the subtle quality of your work. Do not leave...UF is going through some changes but all will settle soon. Luke
This is fun and entertaining. Almost like looking from a quiet hiding place and observing her. Great compositions with the massive columns.

Hi Hugo,
you bring up an interesting point. To be honest, I played around with the brightness some time here. The columns showed a very small dynamic range (the reason is obvious), so there was not a lot to do. I tried several versions of the girl itself but then went for a more darker version as the colors looked a bit washed out when I levelled up the the brightness.
So I really like your idea, but I'm not so sure about the colors here. Would be great to hear opinions of other guys =)
anyway, thx for the work. Always appreciate such reworks.

Hi Thilo, It's difficult to say an Awesome shot, these days, but that's what I think this is, so there you go:
Awesome!
On the postprocessing: I think masking the girl and upping the brightness in that area a bit would've emphasised her presence without making it seem fabricated. Had to check for myself, so per attached the version I came up with. Masking and a screen layer mode.
Cheers,
Hugo

Nice candid, Thilo.
Selective dessaturation (I'm dubious whether it was used, perhaps not!) as helped bring even more attention to the girl. And she has a very cheeky contented smile, like the proverbial "cat that got the cream"

Hi Antontio,
you have eyes like a hawk ;-)
I guess this comes from the light spots on the column.

this is excelllent, there is a curious thing which I can not understand; starting from left the fifth columns appears to me a bit tilted and I can not explain why

Beautiful contrast to your recent almost downcast Escape From New York series Thilo.
The little girl is just so different in every way to the stark serious beauty of the columns. Great job again!
