It's not just you. Windows can be really powerful. The colors here are striking, as is the simple composition. The slightly "burned" corners look great. NICE!

Well, first the original shot had a pretty full-red plaster wall. All I did was to mask out just the wall area from the window, increased the contrast, the original texture on the wall became really accentuated. Then I played around with saturation and color balance until I found this red.
As far as I can remember thats all that was needed with a little cropping and burn around the edges.
Hope this makes sense and pleased you liked it

the contrast between wall and the grey closed window makes it really strong for me
