My father, a retired Kansas farmer, made many quilts as a hobby. In 1976 at age 80 he made this quilt to celebrate the US bicentennial. The written material is not easily read in the photo. It includes historical data such as state birds, flowers, date they entered the union, fist governer, etc. Listed at the top is the presidents that had served up to that time.
Normally my mother assisted my father, but he allowed no one to assist on this particular quilt. My father died at age 81 1977. At the time of my mothers death in 1988 I was fortunate enough to aquire this quilt in a drawing held by the children.
