Wonderful seria!...Did you try keep them all together in one image?..I think it maybe interesting: "Stand, start, flying..." 1/3 for each. All the best for you, my friend. Great photos. Lena

i was near Baltimore Maryland today, Thursday march 18th on business and I decided to take old Route 40 back to Philadelphia instead of interstate I-95. after going about five miles I saw a marshy area to my left, which is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and spotted this great blue heron!{this is the same marsh that I got the pictures of the two beautiful wild white swans several weeks ago!) with great delight i turned by Ford Explorer around parked on the side of the road. then i started shooting pictures of him from approximately 125 yards away, with my trusted Fuji s5000, on full telephoto, in the sports mode, with the digital magnifier activated! 10x+2xdigital. i wish he would have been closer, Im sure I could have gotten much more dramatic shots! thanks for all your wonderful and constructive comments! best regards, jon [ps by the time I started shooting pictures of this beautiful bird was 4:30 PM in the afternoon]

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I don't think you should crop it. I really like the blue heron in his surroundings. I like the reflection and the leaves on the water. A beautiful photo! I hear these birds are extremely skittish and hard to photograph. Great job! Carolyn

I love this one, Jon! The landscape is gorgeous. I really like the plants popping out of the water The heron is a beauty. The composition isn't too bad at all but I would probably have cropped what I find distracting on the top of this image and only a little bit of the foreground and the left side. Mind you, this is just a matter of personal taste. Nevertheless, this photo is very appealing and the lighting and colours are superb so, I think the rating you got is too low.
I'm adding here a cropped version of the image. I also applied some USM

YES...I like this one much better because the beautiful bird stands out more! Great lighting on him, awesome site! Maybe a tighter crop would be good?? Good job!

Hi,Jon - yeah,i would crop more, too and bring heron up a bit closer...i like the foreground leaves on water,though...i almost got a heron shot yesterday but it was spooked by either the stray cat lurking,or my walking on gravel...you must have been very still...Gayle

I like this shot. The problem I have though is that it has to be cropped. The foreground is a bit disturbing. The lighting is great. The Heron should be the main focus point of the photograph.
