Dear Reza...... this is a comment I wrote log, long ago and you misunderstood it. I didn't say that I thought it was a national holiday. I said that my first impression was that it was a national holiday cause I saw the balloons and the bright colours of the flags. I also added more. Yes, I read what is written on the yellow banner. Thanks for replying

Came across this image of yours...excellent image... you captured the scene well.. great colors, dynamic composition. I agree with you about the people...I have known many Iranians and Syrians etc who are good friends. Too bad that the common people don't really run the countries of the world..(even in the west). Unfortunately, I think demonstations like this will begin to become more common as recent decisions and statements by their government clash with the west... Oh, I forgot to tell you that I saw your entry and selection in IPA last year...great work. Two of my submissions were selected but only as Honorable Mentions..

Thanks for filling in such an extensive 'About' - more members should do it like that. Without your explanation, the balloon seller would be a strange dissonant :)

From the thumbnail I thought this was a photo taken during a national holiday when people generally come together to celebrate (that's cause I saw the ballons and the bright colours of the flags). I didn't quite understand the title (Political uproar??) until I realized that this shot was taken in Iran and until I read the interesting piece of information you added here. Unfortunately I don't know Iranian so, I can't translate what's on the yellow banner, but I have seen similar pics before and from what the banners say in English, it is quite clear that fundamentalists do not fail to demonstrate their anti-americanism and anti-western inclination in occasions like this one. However, like you have heard there and like many others know, the majority of Iranians does not share the same views. This photo is very interesting cause it shows once again how a bunch of fundamentalists (probably)still believes that with such demonstrations they can fool the rest of the world. Beautiful documentary photo with, for me, a frightening atmosphere Excellent work, Hugo!

Thanks for your comment. I think I have to make myself clear. Maybe the title is wrong, but don't get ME wrong, I'm not trying to make a political statement with this photo. On the contrary... We happened to be there, and it's definately not what it seems to be; very unreal. I'll be posting the second and third photo later, with more info.
I understand this photo can evoke negative sentiments. It did with me, at first. Quite freigtning. But once we got used to the happening, I found out, that pictures on TV are quite different if you experience them in real life.
Cheers,
Hugo
