About Taken at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We went looking for eagles, and found a couple, but they flew off by the time we were able to get to them. This heron was willing to put on a show, though.

It looks like the VR lens works! I like the sharp bird against the striated, horizontal bands of the background.

Did it turn itself around? Anyway, great shot of a great blue, and one in motion rather than the more usual static predation or resting posture. Excellent job, Bob. Thanks also for your comment on my "Calla Study 2" shot. The original is much better than the upload, and I am at a loss as to why. If you have any ideas for correction I'd love to hear them. Happy shooting. Tim

Well hey, Bob, if I had ice around like that for a backdrop, I'd use it too! Nice photo, a product of a good eye, some luck, and a good bird environment. Of course, you cheated, you were using a tripod, but I won't hold that against you! Check out my bird gallery (it's missing a lot of my egret shots that are scattered throughout my Usefilm portfolio) at http://homepage.mac.com/jareed/Sharing/PhotoAlbum14.html; meanwhile, I'm adding you to my "friends" list, if you don't mind.

Very nice. I have the same lens and was looking for a 1.4x or 2x. How do you like your Tamron 1.4x converter?
