About Hello here is a pic i took today in the Pismo Dunes. I think it came out ok but i've been having a heck of a time getting good shots out in the dunes. If anyone can shed some light (no pun intended) on getting good images in the sand i'd really appreciate it. I live a few miles from these dunes and spend alot of time in them and would really like to start getting some better quality images out of them.

thanks for the help.

Also a great dunes shot. No complaints about this one but your other one is better...

Thanks to everyone who has commented on this photo.
I'm attaching the color version of it as well, the problem area for me is in the upper right hand of the top dune. In the Dark area there are lot's of little weird blue pixels when I blow this up to 100%. If I try to desat the blue channel things look even weirder.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,
Cris...

Cris,

If you say that you have a heck of a time getting good shots.
What do you think that is wrong with the other pics?
Is it the exposure?
Then I would suggest to get the exposure read from pointing to a middle gray card. I do not know how "gray" sand is, so it is possible that it reflects to less or to mush light. Start from the meter reading of the gray card and if that is not OK. Start bracketing from there.

I really like the one you posted. That a great picture where is noting on to improve.

Maybe post one where you think off that it could be done better (original without PS) than we can find out what the problem is.

beautiful light and shadow.. the detail is lovely.

the only thing i think needs a little more help is the sky - do you ever get clouds there - they made add some interest.. just a thought.

it really is a great image anyhow.

i think this shot is pretty good. good shadows in the ripples of sand, looks like some blowing sand off the top of the far dune. good job.

I have never attempted to take shots of sand dunes, so I can't give you an advice, but I can tell you that this image looks great. Good job.
