The moon in the grasp of a tree halfway up Flagstaff Mountain west of Boulder - aside from almost causing an accident as i pulled over when I saw this - the image is as it was - I spot meteed off the rocks - and the sky was a lighter value thus forcing the dark blue - I think I used a polarzer not full turned and a small aperture to get the DOF. I have some people tell me they dislike this intensly. It's hard to tell when I discover something like this - it is so different, it just felt good to see it.
It would be nice if they also told you why they disliked this image. I really would like to hear that. It has a very interesting angle; a very curious subject; the lone tree growing at the peak of a rock; two observers, the photographer and the moon; and wonderful lighting. What more could I ask? As I said on another occasion Greg, I can sense your reverence towards nature. Well done.
The composition and color are excellent, Greg. Wonderful lighting! I'd love to be able to get some moonset shots, but around here, it usually sinks down into the murk out over the lake before the sun comes up most mornings.
