About I believe it's a law that if you have any lens capable of a macro shot, you must do at least one flower shot. Ok ... here's mine. Shot on a whim as I was leaving the house on my way to shoot at the Zoo. First ever flower shot. :)

Russ - thank you for the feedback. It's very much appreciated. Yea, it is away from what I usually photograph; that's why I uploaded it. Hoped to get feedback on how to take this kind of flower shot. I'll keep in mind what you've said below. After reading comments in the nature gallery, I already have some things I want to try the next time.

Hey, this is a far cry from your airplanes and vintage cars. I'd like to see just a little bit of room around the flower, as well as more detail in the middle of it. I can't tell if the problem there is that it's in the shadow or maybe that it's a little bit out of focus. Or maybe some of both?
