I hate perfectly good B&W shots with little smatterings of colour. I've mentioned this on other peoples portfolios before, and yet they continue to get well rated. So, given that this is where I experiment with things, I have posted this to get some feedback. I prefer it in full colour but what does everyone else think?
no no no, it looks awsome the way you did it, B+W would look just as good, color, mmmmm i have to see it, but its a solid image, so it probably would look good. and im going to tell you this once.....lol. dont listen to what ratings say. listen to what people write to you about you image. alot of the poeple rate images to there style and dont take into concideration anything else, thats why i dont let people rate my images..anymore, and if i do, its by accident. alot of people look at what other people rated it at, and follow the same path. when in reality, they know nothing about really rating images. well, thats just my opinon. i tel you this causes your a solid photographer, if i told some one else, they may think im nuts. but i make a living off taking pictures and went to school for years to perfect it, and im still learning.....(im also only 26 so ive got along way to go yet) but as i said, comments are better then numbers, and i always appreceate your comments cause you know how to give them! lol your very good with your words! take care! oh and by the way, i gave you all 7's
Lighting conditions were a little difficult, if I'd have gone down a stop then the right side would be underexposed. The light was so harsh that there is not a lot to burn in either, though I could sample the right 'hemisphere' and matt it in. I would normally agree on the centering thing but I actually like this. I was conciously going for a tourist postcard shot and the linear form of his hair looks OK centered.
The PS work consisted of a quick levels tweak, copying the background to a new layer, selecting a fine brush for the eraser and roughly exposing the hair through the copy layer. Total time expended.........10 mins (if that). Why, 'cause I hate this kind of shot!
Yannic, I'm glad we both agree that we hate this!! :0
doesn't matter about the perfect PS - if the shot is good enough everything can be overlooked - i like roughhouse effects and it goes well with the theme with the punker - if it had been a gorgeous peach skinned longhaired mermaid maybe it wouldn't work - i like the photo.. it's sort of sinister if you get into it and the crowd looking in the distance adds draaaaama..
Well Andrew, 1/ The PS work isn't perfect (already said in another comment) 2/ Too centered 3/ Left part of the head is overexposed 4/ I agree with you concerning this type of image :-) Regards. Y
yeah, I was less than meticulous with this one, as I said, its just an experiment. More noticable is the fine tinge of skin tone on the right hand side of the Mohican!
Ahh covent Garden. I would say possibly a weekend afternoon. I like it, just one minor crit, there is a tadge of blue fringing on the top of the mohican other than that an excellent ps work.
