About My 15-year old daughter... turning her back on childhood quicker than I'd like... when she leaves, I'll have an empty nest.

This was my first work of art produced by using my brand new Wacom graphics tablet. This is a composite of three black and white photos: a portrait of my daughter at a window, a photo of an antique doll in the window of an antique shop, a stormy sky. All photos taken with my Nikon SLR and scanned in high-res onto CD by Costco. I used masked layers, some diffusing, softening and adjustments to contrast.

Hi Carol:

You sure are a quick study, girl. A masterpiece both visually and emotionally. Can't get over how incredibly well your daughter's 15-year-old pose blends into the scene visually and emotively. We get the picture! Hope she does.

Costco scans, eh... So why did I just blow $1000 bucks on a 4000dpi scanner? Well it looks cool next to the Wacom Tablet I'm still trying to figure out.

Best,
Jim

This is excellent Carol - a departure from the work we have seen so far and very successful, I think. The strong lighting contributes to the mood and remains consistent in the three parts of the composite. The portrait of your daughter is lovely. The only suggestion I might have -- I think if you decreased the tonal range a little bit on the doll, perhaps reducing the highest key to a very light gray, it would make the doll recede a bit more visually- and increase the sense that it is passing into the distance (past).
