Thanks Hristo, she was playing a song called Maria. The background has a large door behind the accordion. I have heard Black cat, white cat and do like it. This was a conversion to b/w for some good contrast and tones. This was shot with on board flash and 400 ISO to tame the poor lighting in the old house. Thanks so much for your nice comment. Welcome to UF, and enjoy your time here. Be well, Stan

there is smoething about accordeons.. by the way did you remember the name of the song? Whatch 'black cat white cat' of Kusturica and tell me what you think about the accordeon there, do you like it..it's an oldie and it's classic? I like the contrast with the shadow and the accordeon..what's in there, amirror, a dresser?

Thanks Dave, reminded me of the song about Mama plays the squeeze box!! This was a real hoot and nice break from cabin fever. She is a good Italian girl by her own admission. Be well, Stan

Thanks Ray, these Chautauqua gatherings are a highlight in the winter for us. So many talented people share together and it is a blast. The cares of the world slip away for a while as we enjoy each others talents and company. I just played my camera. I appreciate your kind words and am glad you see the joy that was shared. Be well, Stan

There are times like these when I attend similar events that I wish I had kept up with my musical studies of several hundred years ago . Seriously. A lovely piece of mono toned photography. You have caught this performer well in your action portrait, what a wonderful happy expression upon her face. Well done to you my good friend. Again, all the best Stan.......Ray

Thanks pare, so glad you see the joy on her face. Her spirit shined as she went with the crowd. It was a wonderful community experience of people from a 45km radius of Virginia City. It is a historic mining town and has much early history of the gold rush and vigilante law. We used a historic house that is used for these type of community activity. I love rural Montana. Be well. Wished you could have been there Riny. There were fiddle players, guitar, keyboard and dulcimer players. There was poetry, short stories, oral history and the music. So good to be with people sharing the energy of music and the spoken word. Jan really shined with her poem and her music. An incredibly talented and uplifting person. So glad you saw the fun in this!! Be well, Stan

Thanks AJ, Jan played 2 of her Dad's favorites as a tribute to him from a good daughter. He passed some years ago. She did justice to music with her wonderful harmonic presentation. No sour notes!!The whole room was singing with her music and as she played the second number she stepped off the stage and walked up and down the isle playing and singing with the rest of us. The light was tough and just on board flash. There were two lights near the stage, 100watts each. Just wanted to look back on these and sing again!! Be well, Stan

It's every dream to play the accordion in a local talent show, right? OK, well, maybe not so much a dream as something that seems like fun at the time ...good B&W tones 7++++

Hi Stan! This is an instrument that inspires all sorts of contradictory emotions. Some say it's not a "proper" instrument. Others use it as their livelihood as musicians. You never see it in orchestras. You never see it in rock bands. And yet it may be one of the most commonly played instruments. Whatever, that's all irrelevant - this is a great shot! Perfect compo and exposure, great expression on your friend's face.

Thanks Ania, the light was abysmal at the gathering, so had to resort to on board flash. Jan is an incredible musician and person so full of life. We had a potluck dinner and then about 3 hours of local people blessing us with there talent. Thanks for the comment my friend. be well, Stan
