Oh well, the survival kit was also very appealing to me, since I assume I wouldn't survive that time without it! ;-) It's only hard having to face yet another day in a drunk just for getting over it.
Thank you very much for the nice comment and all the best.

Oh well, Avi, one could also name it deliberate attempt at enticing, indeed! Drinking is good for laughing against what might destroy somebody some day ;-)
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,

You just gave me yet another point of view about it, Dave! I didn't consider that up to now.
Thank you very much!

I don't post photos that I shot recently, Urs. I always leave them "in peace" for at least a year and then take a look at them again, and eventually decide to post some. This one is years ago - from the good times when there were smokers waggons in SBB trains. (That is, before the obligatory complete americanisation came! ;-)) And from the bad times when I believed that working for a big swiss company is something good. ;-)
As about drinking with friends, well, that would be nice. That would be very nice. But you see, the question at those times in the past would be, when should I do that. Leaving home at 4:30 and coming back at 0:00 doesn't leave much space for meeting friends and drink some wine with them. (Weekend is then for sleeping at last! ;-))
The plastic cup, oh well, I didn't care as long as I got my drunk that helped me survive another day in a typically hollow-minded swiss bank. That's why I quitted and went back to science. No "project management", no running like an idiot with a smile on the face, no quick and dirty decisions that have "good results" only for the next year. (That's why science works.) After so many years of running on empty I can indeed not only sleep but *consciously* live now for more than the laughable "calculations" of next year' profits, and much more than "biiiig" IT problems that any 14 year old kid can solve in one day - provided there are no meetings! ;-)
All the best,
Nick

Nick,
If this is a deliberate attempt at enticing, then I have to admit that you have been HUGELY successful !!!!! :) :) :)

An interesting still life, Nick, especially when contrasted with the world flashing by outside the window! Dave.

... Agreeing to your text about meetings mostly, Nick. ;) And even if the glass of re wine had to be drunk in a plastic glass, even ifthe pipe was layed there as an attrap, as it's not aloowed anymore to smoke in Swiss trains, even then I think you really did merrit it! Nevertheless, I would have prefered to drink it at my home in peace, surrounded by friends ... :)
I sincerely hope, you slept very well and deep after your late arrival at home!
Best wishes, Urs
