This is a good example of what predawn light is all about. Shot this about 30 minutes before actual sunrise on the beach at Sapelo Island, GA, and yes, the colors are amazing. No PSing done here at all. Exposure very long on a tripod. Has to be an overall favorite of mine. Right on, Priscilla. Anson

Your capture of the Earthshine on the moon is great. The vibrant colours and the reflection on the water make this a gorgreous picture. MAry

Absolutely wonderful- could look at every bit of it forever! Peaceful, but bands of definite lively colours. I love the sea and to see that different texture carry on the colour bands- a stunning picture Anson. If I was a photographer this is exactly what I'd want to do!

Hi Anson, thanks for the reply. I would have thought there was some what heavy PS work to get the really saturated reds and purples, and almost pure black on the horizon shown here.
To me the times right before the sun comes over the horizon, and right after it recedes under, are incredible times for longer exposures such as this.
By the way your IR work is really incredible.
Cheers, Chris

Chris: Thanks for the stop and the time for the comment. It means much from someone with such a "salty" portfolio. The only PS work done on this image was that of contrast enhancement, aside from cropping. No color rebalancing, layering, masking, etc. was needed and therefore done. I view this image as more of an "abstract" than a "seascape", and therefore the lack of looking "real" doesn't bother me. Sometimes the predawn horizon will show a great deal of banding of colors, as here. Unlike some of your sunrises; by the way, I also agree with some of the others that the rock in "Jamestown Morning" is too big and distracting. Thanks again. Anson

A unique - although unrealistic - looking image. The reflection of the moon is well shown.

Extraordinaria, solo el detalle del horizonte inclinado no la hace perfecta...;-) De todas formas felicitaciones!
