Doyle,
I just use a layer mask and paint black on the mask with a soft 30% opacity brush to reveal the details lost in the blowout. It is a great technique to repair blownout spots.

Steve,
I apreciate your input and kind words. Keep in mind this photo was taken at 50 Mph while traveling down MSR Tampa in Iraq.
It is one of those situations that you see and you know you have to photograph and you are happy with what the photo gods give you.
Frankly, I was happy to return to camp without having to endure the effects of a EFP blast.

I have to speak honestly, it’s technically good, sharp and well exposed but from a compositional point of view I find it lacking a single strong element. It doesn’t tell a story or capture my imagination. It needs a strong foreground element or perhaps a more interesting perspective. No disrespect Paulo but I find it to be sort of average. IMHO

I haven’t seen a snowflake all year; they do not fall often in the desert. 90 days more and I will be on my way home. I only hope to get of few more opportunities to get out and shoot. The waiting s-u-c-k-s.
Great light and DOF here, the flowers persevere and spring will come again.

Ansel would be proud! I often look and the medium format film gear with a wanting and curios eye. Please tell how you are handling the processing from film development to scanning and or darkroom work. Are you processing your own film or sending it out. Are you making prints in the darkroom? Are you scanning negs on a flatbed..?

Wherever you are dogs are dogs, they know no flag or president or king or religion. But, they do know a ball and a child means fun and a break from the boredom that is a dog’s life.

Rudy,
It is a matter of taste I suppose and perhaps monitor calibration. I like my stuff a bit dark, especially in a shot like this, as you adjust curves one way I might adjust the other to bring attention to the elements of the image and to set the mood I want to convey. To reveal every detail in the image may lead to too many distractions from the story being told.
I appreciate your input…

Wonderfuly sharp and awsome color. Your Canon performs well at ISO640. A shot like this would be neat at 1/30th
