Pat it's perfect!! And what a beautiful portrait of you as a child as well!! How amazing how identical you two are.
And this is a beautiful portrait on top of everything. Technically spectacular as usual. I love her little toes peeking out as separation of the frame from the floor and keeping the portrait of you in the same circle as her lil body.

I was unsure how to present this. It started out as vertical, but like the leading lines of the left horiz.
By the no views I'm guessing the vert would have been better. I will attach it in a bit.

Really great eye! Nice capture. Trying to figure out what it is... a doorknob lever? great exposure and really nice lines! I bet this would do well in the newest project too.

Yeah I think it's cute that all us digi users are on useFILM heehee I was film when I came here, but got a digi SLR so that I could practice more w/o ending up in debtors prison. heehee
Thank you for your compliment. I wish now that there had been an adult thumb cradling her foot for better perspective... a viewer can't tell that's an adult's forearm.

makes sense... perhaps I need to change the crop... I feel like the image w/o the border is warm and nice but not all that powerful/deep. The border was probably the wrong choice, I see you study art... any ideas?

I LOVE the noise in this it adds to the moodiness of the shot! Gorgeous! The perspective is magnificent, just makes that ship seem enormous and the viewer so small. Tells a story of the ship's prouder days even though now it is on blocks and probably not too sea-worthy. You've given her back her moment of glory. excellent!

I love how creamy her skin tones look! And since all is in her skin tone family her eyes and lips REALLY pop out and they say SO much!!
Pay I've been meaning to ask you how you get your exposure? Trial and error? Expodisc? light meter? (if so which one?) or is the 20D just THAT amazing in auto modes that your exposure is dead on every time?

Once I had all of the rest of the image how I wanted I flattened it. Then I duplicated that layer and went up to gaussian blur and slid the arrow over until it was really pretty blurred. Then I put an overlay mask on the blurred layer and painted through what I wanted sharper. I did it with a brush on a low opacity so I could build it in slowly until it looked just like I wanted it to and then reflattened it all. Hope that makes sense... it's pretty easy and clients LOVE it.

OH MY WORD!!! I'm in love ALL over again!! I know it's been a LONG time since you did this... but if you remember more of how you did it... could you email me at sara@treasuredimagesbysara.com? I am too chicken to do much with dodge and burn. Do you do it all in one layer or create a burned layer and a dodged layer and paint them in with layer masks?

Mind??? NO I love it!! What did you do to the toning so that I might be able to repeat it on my own. My toning skills are some of my poorest work in pscs. But I did buy the ExpoDisc to FINALLY get me out of the automatic settings which should help my tones a great deal in the future.

Spectacular DOF! And I too love the selective coloring in the leaf and eye! That blue really draws you in! beautiful angle of your wife. Not sure if I should add this part... but you could be her knight in shining armor and get rid of the lil crow's feet we all LOATHE to admit we have. Her freckles really add interest to her close up.

Toni - I have been an admirer of your work for so long, but didn't feel like I had anything worth adding. Your work amazes me. You seem to get that compliment a lot, and you deserve it. The skill and artful, masterful hand you have create images that one carries with them in their mind and soul for years.
And in all seriousness, do you ever teach seminars/classes on your work/style?

Thanks Darren. Actually this is my sister-in-law's baby. He's almost 3mo... Auntie is a lil slow at editting his newborn shots. heehee I have a few more things I want to do to it to kick up the drama a bit more. And might enter it in a competition print for the IL division of the PPA. My mentor thinks as is it'd pull down a 73 (need a 76).
