A beautiful capture of Genie's bottle....oh you say it's a carafe.... Yeah sure - OK. I believe you. I can see a whole landscape inside the carafe Ina. I see a lake in the foreground with a tree reflecting in the water and hills in the background. A lovely scene....but oh... that's not the hot issue here is it. Ahem...back to the outside of the carafe...I love the curves and flow in the handle and the reflections of light are so fluid almost like silver. I'm thinking the handle and neck are some sort of highly reflective metal like silver. the light captured in the glass body portion is gorgeous and the dust on the glass is a lovely compliment to the background. Gives it depth that would have been lost if you otherwise removed it. I like the negative space on the left. Great composition. A beautiful image Ina with lovely tones. Great work. Now if that was me I'd have gone in there and bought that gorgeous carafe cause I just love it.

Oooh Ina...I love blues. This is a complete turn about from those cymbal playing ghosties. I like the layering of patterns on patterns. The slight tilt is an interesting twist (pardon the pun) A very fresh and refreshing image. Makes for a beautiful abstract.

WOW Kathy! This is so razor sharp it's like a 3D image. I think I either need to get one of those cameras or get my eyes checked to get this kind of clarity. I too am thinking like Robin. I'll bet there's a barn just around that bend. hehe A great belly shot. Love the perspective. Fantastic quality. Like a painting. Great job Kathy. You and Susie sure do have fun getting around to take these beautiful photos. Must be fun to have a photo bud. Be careful out there you 2.

Oh how pretty Susie. I just found this from Kelly's macro red flower image. Now I know what Kelly's flower is....hang on a minute....we STILL don't know what it is do we. hehe. I thought it might have been a Chinese red popy but now seeing this I can clearly see it's not that but more of a bush flower. You don't think it's one of the hibiscus family do you? I guess we'll just call it the mystery flower until somebody can identify it. Anyway it's beautiful and I like the framing too.

An absolutely gorgeous macro Kelly. Stunning reds and I've heard they are the hardest colour to capture. You've done a great job of getting this one though. Great DOF and the green makes for a beautiful contrasting background. Razor sharp details and clarity. Superb photo. Just love it!

Cheers - Ann

PS I thought it was looking straight into one of those chinese red poppies but it looks like it's not. Have to go check out Susie's now to see what it is.

Oh WOW! I knew you were going to tell me that about this scene being your backyard (so to speak). I can't believe it! I travel around the world most of my adult life and never got to NZ thinking it's so close to OZ I can go there anytime and now I'm so far away from it I can't get there easily anymore. So where's the nearest hotel? Somewhere near all those cosmopolitan restaurants I hope? This is such a beautiful scene. I'm so jealous. Do you have any photos of some of those beautiful mountians we see in ads and TV/movies? Would love to see some NZ mountian scenes next please. You do tkae requests don't you?

Thank you for your kind compliments Rob. Yes we'll be getting the wheels turning on the motorhome and hitting the road again soon. I don't care which direction we go really cause it's all new ground to me. I just love seeing new places.

I've been right through my waterfll book but I can't find yours in there. The book doesn't show photos of all the waterfalls (just directions on how to get there and info about the falls themselves so it could well be in there but not have an actual photo in the book. As you know Oregon has hundreds of waterfalls so unless you trip over some of your own info it may remain a mystery....but it doesn't matter cause it sure is a nice one. Maybe we'll just call it Mystery Falls until you find out the real name of it.

Thank you for your kind words Sudhir. I think I have gypsy blood in me cause it seems like I've been travelling for most of my adult life. Most of my jobs have been tourist industry related so I've done a lot of travelling with my work but I think it's playing the keyboard on busy street corners on weekends that really rakes in the $'s. Who'd have thought street entertaining/busking/panhandling/playing music or whatever you call it where you come from could be so lucrative....and all tax free (haha - just joking really) If you'd like to sponsor my next adventure I will be more than happy to send you postcards of my progress along the way. (hehe) Thanks for dropping by.

Oh this is just gorgeous. The way you've put this together makes them all compliment each other so beautifully like a symphony or a ballet. The lighting on each is lovely and set against the black background really makes it all pop. I love the diagonal positioning. A stunning image.

Thank you for your kind words on my waterfall image.

WOW Rina this is amazing. A gorgeous image. Very powerful weather in the clouds. Lovely curves in the rock wall along the waterfront and beautiful colour in the water. Nice splash of warmth in the sand. Lines of rocks, walls and roads taking our eyes all over this image. It's razor sharp and clear as a bell throughout. Superb image. I just love it and into my faves it goes. Now tell me this is your backyard and I'll really be jealous. Amazing capture.

Honest Petal. I'm not seeing pink or discabooberated in any way. At the time I wrote my comment you really were on the front page as the Featured Critiquer. When I looked again later you were gone. Those photos change all the time and I always watch for people I know then when I see a name I know I get all excited (yes I know I'm easily amuised LOL) and I go straight there to post a comment. You really did have 15 minutes of fame. At least I was around to see it. Maybe I should have taken a screen shot huh! LOL

Oh what a pretty place to walk. Looks cold with no leaves on those trees but such a lovely path framed by those trees. It must be gorgeous in the spring and autumn/fall. Super vanishing point. The path takes the eyes right into oblivion deep inside the image. Great shot. Oh and where did you find such tiny people? LOL

Ha ha Petal. You still seeing pink elephants. Too funny. I guess you had to find an iced over lake to try out your walking on water skills. "Go on Grasshopper" (said in my best Shaolin Master voice from the Kung Fu TV show) - "just like walking on rice paper and when you get to the other side without breaking the ice then you will know the answers to all the world's mysteries".

Well... either that or you'll freeze trying. LOL

I love the perspective in this one Petal. I wonder if it's safe to walk on that dock while the water is frozen like that. A very cold and isolated moody scene. Well seen and captured.

Also congratulations for the front page Flappy Mouth of the day. ...and you always being so shy and quiet. Nice to see you on the front page.

What an unusual sight. At first I thought it was a very dangerous tree trunk. One that I would not fall asleep under I mgiht add but now I'm thinking it's a great close up of a rose bush branch with all those thorns. Seems like an awful lot of throns for a rose branch though. Most unsual and makes for a winderful abstract with great patterns. Well seen and captured.

Thank you also Mohamed for your lovely comment on my waterfall image.

You know if you walk through that hole you enter another dimension. At least that's what it looks like to me. Reminds me of that Sci Fi show Stargate. The hole is a gateway to another planet maybe. Great rock and textures. You can even see a nice colourful waterline in the lower rock. I wonder if you can go there at sunset and catch a beam of sun through that hole. Are you far from this place? You need to go back and get a sunset shot through the hole. Do you take requests? I would like to see a shot of the same scene at the Golden Hour please.

After reading your description now I understand what that white diagonal beam is. It must have been a reflection of the window. Great catch to get this shot. Such a colourful market. Such vast open plains in the background. Very brave of you to capture this. Great work Mireille.

Ahhhh shades of home

I do believe we are getting through the spectrum here with the "How dark should a dark room be" image being an all balck square. An all white square being "Snow blizzard" and now your "Best of all lookout" shot in the clouds. How clever. Waiting for the blue sky shot now. How does one critique this? Great exposure to get such even lighting throughout. (hehe)

I've seen this view when the clouds roll in like this so I know this has to be a real photo. Nothing phoney here. Funny!
