Ina,
Great detail - Also nicely framed. It almost seem that the carafe is floating. You did a great job on capturing this still life.

Hi Aram, that is very funny :) Snobbing its own handle! I was asked by Andrzej also about my own reflection, and the answer is: there is no reflection of me in there :) I take pictures at an angle, so I don't get my own reflection, also I don't get too much glare. If you remember my pictures of the convex mirror, I've done the same, best regards, and thanks for your thoughts! Ina

It looks like snobbing it's own handle!
Nice capture.
I tried hard to find there a natural self-portrait... in vain!

Goes with the mood of the doll and antique mirror! I like the overall abstract, somewhat graphic effect. You manged to capture it floating in air! The out of focus background accents are also very pleasant. Eb

Thanks very much Andrzej, my reflection was not there, but I would have left it in this case, it wouldn't bother me, I didn't even notice there were cars in there! Always nice to hear from you, Best regards, Ina

Ina, it's a pretty stuff, I like the genuine rounded shapes the glassy deformed reflections, the blury street scenes and the perfect play of the lights in the glass. I would only expect your reflection in the bottle but it's not there, you likely cloned it off the scene. Truly elegant composition. Cheers, n.j

Hi Mark, thanks very much for your in-depth comment. Now every time I do a still life I remember yours :) I didn't buy the pitcher, it's probably still for sale :) The vague blobs in the DOF are store lights from inside the store. This and other glass pitchers were on a shelf in the window, I was outside looking in. I'm glad you noticed the vertical space at the right, it is actually adding something - or rather taking away - from the symmetry of the negative space. It's strange that the window reflections disappeared in PS - with the autolevels function. Otherwise, I couldn't have used it. So maybe when you try other window shots, don't discard them, try the autolevels, autocontrast and see what happens. This one popped out from a very bland picture, and then of course I worked some more on it :) Best regards, as always, Ina

Great shot Ina. I have experimented a bit with store indow still lifes, but have gotten nowhere. This is superb!
There is a lot to like about this image. Excellent choice to go B&W here. I very much like the non-perspective profile view you have here. Sort of like a silhoutte in reverse. And your choice of framing/crop with the negative space to the left is excellent. Of course, the space is not quite negative since there are vague and out-of-focus objects in the background, or are those reflections? Either way, the DOF here brings a crispness to the main attraction in contrast with the background that is very well used. I especially like the shapes seen through the pitcher handle. I also like the vertical background at extreme right as well, good decision to leave that inside the crop. And such a lovely object! Nice choice Ina, I'd love to have it myself! Please tell me you bought it and that we'll be treated to more still lifes using this! Great work Ina.
Very best, Mark

Very nice capture. I like the antique feel to the peice. Often a subject looks trapped when it is facing the edge of the photo with it's back to the open space, but this is not the case here. You have composed he shot well.

Sounds like a fun town to snoop around. I love quaint towns like that and exploring through all the shops. Any chance of posting a photos sometime of such a town or perhaps you could email it to me. I really do love visiting such places and I also collect both computer images and postcards of all places.
Re: attachment photo - Oh how funny....all that wine and only one carafe. I'll have to visit that store for sure. :)I would love to visit the east side and Niagra Falls some day. That area is still in the discussion stages but it will happen some day.
Cheers - Ann :)

Thanks very much Ann - great comment! On your next stop to Niagara Falls, be sure to visit this little town, Niagara on the Lake, very quaint, with horse drawn carriages, little shops and restaurants, plus a nice theater, etc. And the carafe was silver plated, and here's the rest of the store (see attached) - Cheers, Ina

A beautiful capture of Genie's bottle....oh you say it's a carafe.... Yeah sure - OK. I believe you. ;) I can see a whole landscape inside the carafe Ina. I see a lake in the foreground with a tree reflecting in the water and hills in the background. A lovely scene....but oh... that's not the hot issue here is it. Ahem...back to the outside of the carafe...I love the curves and flow in the handle and the reflections of light are so fluid almost like silver. I'm thinking the handle and neck are some sort of highly reflective metal like silver. the light captured in the glass body portion is gorgeous and the dust on the glass is a lovely compliment to the background. Gives it depth that would have been lost if you otherwise removed it. I like the negative space on the left. Great composition. A beautiful image Ina with lovely tones. Great work. Now if that was me I'd have gone in there and bought that gorgeous carafe cause I just love it. :)
Cheers - Ann :)

What a precious shape, what a lovely tones and reflection. Very well captured and composed pothograph. It reminds me the last century aged vintage style. Very, very nice handmade product, fine lines and timeless design. Thanks for sharing my dear friend! I'm very happy when I can see such fine works. Well done dear Ina! ;) Hugs!
