Very unusual setting, carved out of a cliff. Does the water curve around in front of the resort? Is that a road on the lower right that drops off to the sea? I am just imagining. Very clean and festive.

This is a real study in concentration. We are waiting for him to decide. I love that the light from one candle is bright enough to illuminate the scene with rich tones and no "noise". Very cinematic -- I like the wide screen effect.
Cheers, Leora

The very composition is exactly what it should be, always! Exacttly that part of reality that raises the specific view to something special, something that can't be repeated! Endelss space in a limited area, puzzling implict leading lines, extremely well separetes ranges of light/shadows, and all that hand in hand with a "huge" composition that contains all what is needed and notning more. I am especially amazed by your subtle transitions from light shadow under such a perspetivem Nuno!
Cheers!

Well, Nuno, the "haze" of Athens is a little more... chemical! ;-) I'd like to go there for capturing the already visible air that they breath - might give an interesting series. ;-)
But seriously now, haze is for me always hard to get in some adequate way. I had to sort out most of the shots I tried since the haze wasn't really visible as haze but rather as a strong lowering of contrast.
Cheers!

It is indeed less visible, nuno, but so is the sharpness of the image too. I guess that the best compromise is really hard to find here, but this is exactly the value of it. It must be really teaching a whole wealth of contexted information about photography and processing.
Though there are many good shops and offers for processing film around here, I would really like to have a small darkroom too. At least I can use the darkroom of the photoclub in the city but it is of course not the same as when one has taht at home too.
Wish you all possible discoveries of the world!
Nick

Thank you very much for your learned and sensitive comments. This new version is a latter day scan where I hope grain seems less visible. As for the developing color film in bw chemistry I did it at first for the fun of it, later I bought a box of Vista 400 from the Agfa bankruptcy and decided to experiment with the process, mainly because I can't find around any 1 hour lab that doesn't fingerprint, soil or otherwise mark my films. I found the best option is to use hc110 10cc in 300 cc of water at 24 ºC, and scan as bw positive (color positive possibilities are worth exploring too) allowing for the heightened density and grain. Some results can be explored artistically in that the resulting images tend to be contrasty, grainy and other worldly. Alas, this present image here dates from the beginning of my experiments and rodinal was used as developer. Greetings from Oeiras, Nuno
