Wow! That's really awesome, Salvatore! I'm not sure if you caught it by surprise or if this was a little more staged but the colors in this shot really give it a lot of pop! The sharpness of the fly is amazing! Well done.

Steve,
Sorry to come across as rude and arrogant... That wasn't the intent. I would argue the Mark II is actually a harder camera to use than say, a 10D or 20D and thus, it takes more effort to get a really good picture. I've seen really awesome images come from little point-and-shoot cameras and I've also seen real garbage come out of a 1 DS Mark II, too.
If I had a dollar for everytime someone suggested "Man that would have been great... With a camrea like that, you should have no problem", etc, etc. It's really a silly notion. Yes, it's an awesome camera and I love it. But just because it's a high-end camera doesn't mean everytime you hit the shutter release, an award winning picture is going to pop out.

Wonderful colors, Khaled! I like both shots... The original has some distractions behind it (which is why I'm assuming you cropped it the way you did. Very nicely done!

Whoa! Excellent shot! That's one heck of a lens! Is that the actual 600mm lens from Canon or a the equivalent with the TC?

Nice work, Khaled... Believe it or not, I think I prefer the whole dome... It has more of an abstract feel to it. Both have a good symmetrical feel to it. Nicely done.

Thanks, Dan. Can you make some suggestions about the lighting? Is what you're seeing possibly the result of a conversion to B&W, softening, etc?

Thanks, Khaled! I wish I could figure out something more creative to do with this type of stuff, to be honest. Unfortunately, everything closer than this picture was blocked off by fences and such.
Sorry I haven't been posting and critiquing much lately... Usefilm has been a tad on the slow side.

Hi, Margaret! I think I saw that one as a matter of fact. My son here really loves balloons! My wife usually takes them to safeway where they get free balloons. I took them a couple of days ago and they went nuts because I didn't "know the routine." I figured it out fast though!

Khaled, Thanks! I resubmitted a newer one with less "stuff" on the bottom. I didn't have more sky to add as you suggested but my wife suggested also that there was too much in the foreground. I tried to balance it out a bit with the resubmit..

Khaled,
Not only is it a great picture, but your comments are incredibly informative as well! I never knew those things.
I'm very curious about various cultures around the world and have been studying Mexico and Brazil for the last year or so (since i've been to those countries and am very intrigued.) I'm also very intrigued by the Islamic world and I think that will be the next that I study -- That and Russia. both have incredible histories and culture. I can't wait to visit the Middle East at some point -- preferrably if/when American's aren't in such danger. It's too bad that for various reasons, the majority of the American People who do respect other cultures have to pay the price for the few who make us look so bad.

I really like this shot, Jeff... With the all-white background here on UseFilm, she just pops right off the webpage!
I think my only suggestion here would be if the background is so white, I'd try to get some lighting such that there is a slight shadow under her. This is so sharp it looks like she was "extracted" from another image.

Good color here... As it's your first pic with the 20D (an amazing camera, I might add!) it seems that all Canon's images are slightly soft and lacking contrast/saturation. I find I have to increase the sharpness, contrast and saturation on virtually all of my images. Are you finding that to be the case as well? BTW, I shoot with a 10D and a 1D Mark II.
