Thank you Ben, for inviting me to see, or actually enjoy your portfolio... it is full of emotional, expressive, and very artistic work... and I think beyond the techniques, capturing this emotions is the most hard part.... Great work...
My tiny nit (almost all over the work) is the bit tad harsh lighting.... yet it doesn't take away anything of the beauty of the work...

regards

Interestingly it is his teeth that stand out mostly. He looks happy and a bit overwhelmed staring into the camera. Perhaps tightly cropped.

as ben knows, i took this same photograph myself (i was with him), but from the other side of the boat, and i have to say, his turned out better. great work ben, i'm impressed! i agree with conrad, this picture does almost look black and white. you might consider using a polarizer to make the blue more dramatic or strengthening the color of the sky and the water with photoshop.

That expression!!! What a great capture! I do have to say that the face is a bit on the flat side (or is that an effect of the slight lack of sharpness?) and I'd prefer a bit more room in the direction he's looking, but the emotional impact is phenomenal!

Great lines and tones Ben. Did you consider cropping the top left hand corner off at all. It really cayches your eye and takes away from the main subject. The combination of the water is a good connection to the canoe, a nice touch.

You have to love B/W when it works. A bit more contrast and I would have liked it even more.
Thank you Ben.

congrads to my business partner and a prominent member of my photo-team, ben rasmussen (or should i say the only prominent member of my photo team). this photograph captures the beauty of a philippino character. no comments or critique here, i critique your work enough in person, and i appreciate your critique as well. helping us become better photographers (like my new usefilm signature phrase?),

It's a good composition and pretty good use of light. It's just too soft of focus.

A bit sharper would be perfect but a good capture of a great face. You will find that some people may get annoyed if you ask them to view your portfolio, it was rampant on another site where a lot of memebers here have come from, me being one. Cheers, Darrin
