Really like this one -- maybe because I know how you feel here -- I've spent quite a few nights like this, actually. Love the lighting as well.

Matt and Chris:
I actually like the lighting on this in the fashion sense of things. And Matt, as for her shiny arse, I'm sure many men find it appealing -- to me it makes me wonder which fashion she is selling -- the outfit or the round little butt? Guess sex sells...
seriously, though, Chris -- this is a very professional fashion shot, from what I can tell and some people do not understand fashion shots -- they are in to a little bit of a different type of photography, which there is nothing wrong with -- it is just different.

Yikes..this guy reminds me of Gene WIlder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory -- guy totally creeped me out in that movie -- actually he creeps me out anyhow.

But, the photo -- I like it....I like the way this guy looks real and like a statue at the same time. Nice lighting and composition too. Could be a little brighter, I guess, but that could be adjusted in photoshop.

Lovely photo. Is this you? :-) I love the lighting and ah, the idea of a peaceful any time of the day is a nice thought for this busy reporter :-) I really like the composition as well.

The lighting here is just gorgeous and adds so much to the photo. I'm so glad you were able to share the information for us on what settings, etc. you used. Very nice shot indeed.

I agree with Martin that this came out a little dark, but I see what you mean in this photo about composition and better cropping. My photo would have benefited if I had tried something like this. Did you get this when you took the photo or was it cropped later? Doesn't matter, I mean it is still a cool photo, but I was just curious. I really like your work and the high contrast you use in the photos with the beautiful women. (ah to look that good :-) If it were a little brighter it might show the mans' expression more, of course it could also take away from the mood....

A snap Ricky or a long-time set up process? -- I like the feel of the photo and the way the sunlight comes through. Maybe it was just the scan that made the contrast look a little high, but it is still a very cool idea.

Love the coloring of this photo -- wish the hair was not across her chin all the way like that, but it is still a beautiful shot. her eyes are also beautiful.

Hans:
So sorry to hear about your son. This is what photos are for -- to hold on to memories. This photo shows the love your wife had for your son. I will try to remember to say a prayer for you and your wife during this difficult time. What a tragic way to lose your child. I pray that God will bless you with another child when tthe time is right.

I personally like the composition of this photo. It might even be neater if his head was tipped down toward her -- but you get what you get sometimes. I really like the overall feeling of this photo -- regardless of how good or bad the photo scanned.

I knew that this had to be your son -- he looks just like you. Love this shot -- love the close feel of it and the expression on his face (probably something like "Dad, go away I am sick -- you are sooo annoying :-) Seriously, I love the lighting and the comp. here. Love learning from your shots.

Hey neighbor (sort of) :-) I like this shot, but I wish it were just a little brighter. I also wouldn't mind seeing what the color print looks like. In addition -- where do you get your camera equipment? Locally or somewhere else --just curious. Oh, I'm the one that lives in the same county as you -- anyhow..back to the photo -- what I like best about it is the little boys expression -- what I think might could be better is the lighting, but it is still way above what I could probably do!

Beautiful photo. I love the way the blue in her eyes matches her shirt and stands out. i only wonder if that is her real eye color considering all that cna be done with photos these days. Still, lovely composition and lovely subject.

Beautiful. Makes me think of a friend of mine -- wish I could see what she looks like this far along! But she lives too far away. Gorgeous lighting and I love the mothers look.

Dawn:
Adorable child -- I wouldn't mind seeing the rest of her in this shot -- the rest of her arm and a little of where she is crawling to, but I really like the way she is looking so intent on getting whereever she is going. I also like the lighting. Nice shot.

This one caught my eye and I don't know why (I'm a poet and didn't know it! :-) I really like the angle and the coloring. I'm not sure what is causing the blueness here or what the guy is looking at, but the photo still intrigues me. I really like the composition and what a cutie to use for the photo. Did you get him to pose for you? Nice work, I think.

Ray:

Have to agree that the photo is too soft -- does it look like this on the original or was it the scan? I still like it though. I really like this series you have going with photos of your wife. she is so pretty and has such neat expressions! I also think you are a marvelous photographer in many ways! Am I gushing too much? Yeah, well, I'm tierd :-) but I do really like your work. A little sharpness on this one and it will be one of your best so far on this site

Great photo! Love the composition and the reflection.

And by the way -- does anyone know how to upload a photo when it says you must register or login before you can, but you are already logged in?

I was looking at your portfolio when I saw those critical comments of John's (critique I guess) and came upon this one. I just love it! I'm not just trying to be nice because I think John was slightly harsh (though I am sure he just said what he thought he needed to). I think this photo is so cute and lovely. I love the closeness of it. In some ways it seems a little soft, like it could be sharper, but I still like it. He has beautiful eyes! Very nice job!

Drecci:
I have looked at your other work and I can see you definitely have some talent and love for what you do. Don't let someone who thinks they know everything about photography cut into the joy of what you do. I like the way the girls are posed here and while the one ball is positioned oddly, I do not think John had the right to be so nasty about the photo. I don't think this is that bad of a photograph compared to some of the ones I have seen on here. if you love photography then keep doing it -- keep working through the pain because I bet in the long wrong the pain will seem less when photos you like come out. It does't matter what other people think anyhow, I've decided. If I like the photo and it represents something that means something to me than forget everyone else and their out of line over zealous tactics. Do want you have to do to make the photo good. Standing in a different spot may have helped with this one in regard to some of the composition, but I really feel that this is a very good photo in its idea and overall presentation.

Excuse me -- I didn't mean to really say that Nathan doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to journalism shots. Just reread that comment and realized how arrogant it sounded -- good grief. What I meant to say was I am not sure I totally agree with Nathan and I'm not sure he was right on the button with this particular shot. Ahem...and I really like it too, by the way. Love the girls' face and the view of the blown out ceiling in the background. NIce job.

Honestly I am not sure Nathan knows what he is talking about when it comes to journalism shots. I think this is a great shot either way and I don't think it matter which lense is used -- journalism uses nice shots too, not just to fill space. We have a photographer here who uses all kind of shots, wide, yadda, yadda and it looks good anyhow. Course..that is just my opinion.

I love the composition of this photo and the little one's expression, but I am curious about the scan and wonder if something caused that layer there so the photo doesn't look as good as it should? Do you have anyway to get rid of that layer on photoshop? It would be good to try if you have photoshop (I don't except for at work myself). Really nice shot, though, and if the fading layer could be eliminated it would be even better.

Beautiful portrait and beautiful subject. Love the way she is looking off camera -- not really looking like it is a posed shot, just casual. Very nice work as usual.

While the photo is blurry and soft -- there is something about it I like. Just hits something in me, I guess. A faster shutter speed might have helped capture Shibby in action a little better and a non-direct flash (as has only been recomended to me today, so maybe this isn't the best choice)might brighten her a little. Maybe? Just a suggestion. She is a little cutie though!

Heather, I rated your photo a little low in my hormone affected gut reaction and I wanted to say I'm sorry. I've looked at this photo again and it fits its title. it is very cozy. I wish the lighting were a little brighter, but it is still a neat photo. I'm sorry about the low rating and wish I could change my rating because the photo is better than I first realized. Plus, I am not a professional in many ways (shoot for a newspaper, but still learning about lighting as seen by my photo posted today) and do not know enough about photography to comment too much on lighting, etc.
