Thanks for the comments....I suggest the St Paul conservatory at Como Park (there is a free zoo there as well and a Japanese Peace Garden), the Rose Gardens at Lake Harriet; the Universtiy of Minnesota (Weissman Museum and spectacular old architecture); the riverfront near DT Minneapolis (although not near what the San Antonio Riverwalk is). Happy shooting today!

and your unaccustomed to the scenery eyes have allowed you to see Woody in a way that probably never would have...i have stalked the beast without every capturing him so well. excellent background with the leaves providing structure foundation for him. Luke

Oh, Melanie. Even with the slight blur, it is a wonderful portrait. You do such a good job of eliminating the nonessential element in your images. Here the face and eyes are wonderful.

sharp, well-composed, great lighting. could we ask for more? perhaps, it would not avail us of much though. this is excellent; love the tight grouping and DOF, bold saturated colors.

Melanie, good shooting. Create a diffuser out of some opaque material for your flash. That will help soften the light and give you more of what I think you are looking for. She doesn't need a lot of help as she is stunningly beautiful...you just have to find creative ways to portray that beauty. You did well here. Framing and exposure are just part of the overal picture (pun intended) Luke

those are smiling eyes, Melanie. An intimate shot that tells us considerable about your relationship with the subject, yet leaves something more to explore. Works in B/W
