Hey Gyorgy this looks like one I shot with my Canon Rebel xt. Your camera should do better. I Used a much higher shutter speed.....It seem to work better for some reaon. Try 250 at about the same lens setting. I think you will get a bit better image....Not really sure however but worth a try a. :) I read this somewhere to in a photo mag. And btw thank you so kindly on your comment! I am trying hard to understand as much as I can as quick as I can! Its like I eat sleep and .... Photography. I guess I really got bitten!

Hi Colin, thanks for your visit. Yes, I also had problems with automatic focussing, I wondered why it happened. Probably it was because of the darkness, when the camera tries to use the infrared beam, of course to the moon it is useless. In the end I changed to manual focus and kept it on infinity. Best regards, György

Szia, Gyorgy. My canon S2 has some trouble focusing upon the moon, Gyorgy. I get this level of acuity. So I've given up on the thing (except in landscapes for effect!). But your lunar image is nicely framed, with the textured border. Good isolation on the black background also.

Hi Ina, this time I shot from the hand. Earlier I did use tripod but the result was not much better. Anyway, I keep on trying. Early evening moon is a good idea, the moon is always bigger when it rises from the horizon. Cheers, Gyuri

Hi Gyuri, did you use a tripod? I've had more success with daytime moons (late afternoon shots), and then tried to darken the image. Beautiful shot!

Still you have managed to capture great details. Keep trying until you are satisfied within yourself with the shot.

Nagyon szép, szerintem jól sikerült fotó a holdunkról. Talán csak akkor lenne profibb, ha egy igazi teleobival lönél. Nekem igy is tetszik! Gratulálok Gyurikám, és ez a kreativ keret már jobb a régiebbeknél! ;)
Szia és kellemes napot! Robi

I read in one of the forums that because the moon is a reflected light source, and because it is moving, you need to use a 1/250 shutter speed - I've never tried it though - so I don't know if it's true or not!
