About This is The Grange in Hampshire. It's a country house that was allowed to go to ruin but which has recently been renovated to become an opera house. The grounds are freely accessible to the public which is nice! The frosty morning added some nice highlights and textures to the foreground plants and provided the mist on the water. The weak sun had just begun to illuminate the great columns at the front of the house when I took this shot. I used a three stop soft ND grad to tone the sky down and an 81B warm up filter to keep the colours straight. This was my last shot using Velvia 50 - I've now depleted my stock and it's time to try the new Velvia 100. Gulp.

Excellent Barry - I admire this shot - great handling of a difficult light situation - I would never guess that you used a ND filter. Great work !

Nice winter scene Barry. Good frozen colors, too bad about the 50, eh?

Cheers,

Magic, Barry!
A wonderfully cold feel to it! Very appropriate for such a frosty scene.
Best regards, Chris

Now this is outstanding ! What an elegant lead-in with the shore and luminance gradient, what an artistic in-camera work ! The hoarfrost, the cold color palette, the raising mist... Love it. Into my favs. Even the contrails are cooperative adding nicely to a vanishing point behind the horizon ;-)

Cheers

Thanks for the comment, Todd. No, the clumps in the trees are mistletoe plants.

You've got the best way to say goodbye to the faithful film.

Good framing and witty use of filters!

I'm longing to see the results of the new film.

Best regards -Fabio-

Nice shot Barry, made me put the heating on (just one more coal dear, ouch!). Good luck with the Velvia 100. The extra speed should be handy and the quality as good.

I like the light feel to the mood here - a nice way to impart a feeling of "being there".
