About
Besides their exceptional, glowing beauty, these easy growing, long blooming annuals have many other uses. Fresh or dried petals have been used as a saffron substitute since Roman times, and dried petals were sold from barrels by spice merchants in the Middle Ages for culinary and medicinal use. Spicy and aromatic, the petals can be used sprinkled on a salad, or added to fish and meat soups, rice dishes, cakes, and deserts. They are used commercially as a coloring for cheese and butter. Medicinally, the petals were used to heal wounds and treat conjunctivitis, while the leaves were felt to relieve bee stings. An infusion of the petals may be used as a hair rinse to lighten fair hair, and the petals can be made into a nourishing cream for the skin. : )
Thank you very much for your comments, Pooriya, Sameer, Pan, and my friend, Rashed. And yes, you are right, Sameer. It would look better. Unfortunetly, I am limited in DOF with this camera, but it makes me try new things to make up for it. I hope to upgrade my camera soon. I appreciate you speaking up, that's what this website is all about. This photo is an example of one of the things I use these beautiful flowers for. I press and dry them to make "Dust Catchers".
Nice variation of color along the diagonal. how will be the photo if dof is little more? but that is me (and I could be wrong!!) can't say what will be good.
