Hi Joe...Sorry to say I was not quick enough (or prepared) for the hawk! But I'm sure he'll be back! Can't wait to see how long it will take you to get to Dallas with all the stopping and shooting! Take care and I hope to see you soon at the Lake! Darlene

Excellent title Darlene for this wonderful capture. It has a humourous side to it, sort of 'peek-a-boo, I'm watching you' and it also serves as a reminder as to how cruel nature can be when all creatures have young and themselves to feed.
Lovely composition with razor sharp details and spot-on dof. Well done Darlene my sweet. Best wishes to all....Ray

Thanks so much Jan, he was fun to watch! There was NO WAY this little guy was staying at his favorite eatery (the bird feeder) while this big guy was swooping around! Glad you enjoyed it! Take care my friend. Darlene

Poor little thing, but you got a really great shot out of it, lot's of personality in his look. I tried to get a shot of a black squirrel today in the Bronx, but they were being shy. Alison

Darlene,
He thinks he has everyone fooled!
The camouflage is pretty good, but I can still see a squirrel in that tree :)

So funny- aren't squirrels a HOOT? Love this- so cool that you saw it hiding from a hawk and captured it with that GIANT tele lens of yours! Wish I had one of those! Great work!

What a great capture - you can almost see his little heart going pitta-pat. This put a big smile on my face - the details are wonderful - just look at his little tiny hands and nails, his fur and whiskers - not to mention the tree bark. Color is super too. Well done! Jan

Oh what a find and a great moment captured. He looks scared and rightly so. Forzen until the hawk left then probably passed out through worry. A wonderful shot with lovley DOF and great clarity and detail. I love it.

Cheers - Ann :)

I guess he had good reason to hide, Darlene, even though the hawk apparently had gone vegan for that meal! Great catch of the little guy!

Darlene, I cannot stop giggling, it is fantastic shot anyway, and one can imagine what/why the squirrel was there, but your about makes it into a hilarious capture. The colours, textures, DOF and detail are all excellent

I thought he was camera shy until I read your "about". He looks pretty safe there as his colours blend in wonderfully with the tree. Nice shot.
