Lovely work! I love the way the child is looking up at the mother.

... as I was saying before I got truncated, the halo effect around the mother also adds a nice touch.

--Rich

P.S. -- It might be interesting to see what happens with other colors - reds, yellows, oranges...

I also like it! The blue colors give a quiet, distant effect. Mom & son are looking at each other -- they are wrapped up in each other, to the exclusion of the rest of the world. What a different picture it would have been if Ma was looking out at the ocean!

Minor quibble: The horizon looks a little tilted. I can't see if it's the result of a distant fogbank, or what. (The voice of experience is speaking! I often have a "slanted view" in my photos 8-

Wonderful image, and well captured too. This is the stuff that keeps the rest of us out there trying and learning. Thanks for showing us the way.

Tony this is great. What a nice emotional moment here. Like the color too. Kind of helps the dreamy scene. This is an idea I feel you should take further. Photographers are always looking for images and they shoot a nice image but fail to take it any further. I hope you taek this idea further still. James

I AM glad you all like this pic.it's one of my wife's favourites so she's well pleased! The b/w print I scanned in was quite a bit lighter(you can see the shells in the sand)but full of scratches and stuff.Despite a lot of cloning I eventually had to darken tone, dodge and burn but I think the end result communicates the feelings we shared at that moment.

Wonderful tony, extremely intimate moment you captured. Thank you for sharing it with us. I changed your frame a little to bring out some of the detail in the ground.

Good light, theme, and emotional pull to this - but the digital look of it really holds it back alot, is there any way to achieve the same appearance without all the pixelization, etc etc?
