About Salvatore Cicciarella, who shares my admiration for period funerary art, suggested I post this shot from Pere-Lachaise. Check out his some of his work--http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/75527.html.

This is a lovely, peaceful shot of this wonderful statue. It's beautifully framed by the light background and gives a good feeling of this special place. Thanks also for your kind comment.

Regards, Markus

I love statuary, but funerary art is not very developed in Japan, probably something to do with the fact that cremation is the Japanese way... I do love this statue (and will visit Salvatore's work next). Thank you for your encouraging comments. You seem to pick my neglected favourites! Much appreciated.

Wonderful - the out of focus highlights are very effective at concetrating the attention on the face. Good stuff :~}

Thanks, Larry. Hope you enjoy the new camera. I've been using my 10D recently. Having two cameras is a great way to have two lenses at the ready. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.
