Cute little bird! Well captured and nicely detailed! I can surely appreciate your shot knowing how fast these little guys move.

Hi Rat, I just looked at the raw image again and the background was already blurred, I lightened it up and used smart sharpen and added a little contrast I just got a new lens, a 400/F4 DO and hadn't really gotten a chance to use it until Tuesday and I was amazed. It focuses really fast! I wish I could tell you that I planned this shot and give you some tips........but I got lucky on this guy and on the woodpecker! Darlene

Hi Darlene!
Did you add any selective blurring to this, or is the stick coming front back enough to get the selective DOF?
Which ever it is, incidentally - it's a fantastic capture.
And have you got any hints you'd care to share on getting the focus right on quickly enough?
You seem to have the hang of it!
I seem to spend quite a long time waiting for the EF to decide where to go before I can press the button 8-(

Thanks Dave, I got lucky on this one! They never sit still in my backyard, guess they're more relaxed at Lake Martin! Darlene

Thanks so much Ken! It was a lucky shot, these guys come to the feeder in the backyard and I NEVER get a good shot. This little guy just lit on a branch at Lake Martin and I fired.....Darlene

like this little bird, and a real nice DOF for the soft green background. Artistic pic Darlene.

A wonderfully captured moment, of this beautiful little chickadee. (Wasn't that a W.C. Fields line?) You've caught the grace, alertness and intelligence, in the birdie's pose, Darlene. An impressively blurred background, illustrates this, nicely.

Exceptional and a favourite.

Colin

Darlene,
Congratulations, these critters are very difficult to photograph, they never sit still. Very nice detail and the background looks like a watercolor.

Just as well you've got a quick-focussing camera and a fast eye for composition, Darele. Good wildlife work once again.
Best regards, Chris
