don't know if u meant it... but the famous Mondrian drawing we studied in college had the exact same approach.
It was the breakdown of a tree into branches (lines) and leaves (colors) into this wonderful collage drawing.
I think some of the rectangles are out of proportion... try using golden ratios for them.
Maybe u can also give each rectangle a certain color filter... making the whole a bit more colorful..!!
