About Back to the sun this time, still loads of colour though. It wasbusily setting in the background.

Sigma not quite so sharp on the left part of the walls, but the right was OK.

Need a 5D and 16-35 F2.8 really.

just need the £3000

Cheers for the tips Jim - much appreciated.

I agree entirely and usually shoot landscapes at F16 - unless it's really dark.

the problem is that the lens's aperture has broken and can ONLY shoot at F3.5.

Your synopsis is right, but what can you do when you can only shoot wide open :-(

I always shoot on a tripod too - quite famous for it :-)

What a neat picture, the colors are amazing. However, I suspect the sharpness problem is not the fault of your lens but of your exposure. At f/4 you have very little depth of field and I'll bet you focused on the right (nearer) end of the castle. I'd like to see this shot at f/16 at 1/8 second exposure (of course a tripod would be a good idea for this exposure). Still, your composition and the colors are outstanding.

Yes I thought with Steve new camera we would be seeing lots from him, I guess Alastair and Marie must be busy, must try ringing them again, left a couple of messages. Hope all is well with you Margaret

Cheers Margaret - things have seemed really quiet on here recently. Only Danny and I keeping the side up really! Still cranking out 3 a day, make the most of that donor status!

Think Steve and Al have retired!

Interesting colours ADE. Just enought in the grass.

It's 2 things really Ann, firstly, that lens is broken - you can only shoot full open at F3.5, so you get problems with a shallow depth of field. Hence the far thing being blurred abut the near one being clearer...

Neither are perfect cause it was blowing a gale and I think the tripod was affected by that a little.

I slapped on the colours to hide the blur a bit :-)

Cheers for the comment - and I will get an IS lens one day.

This is a truly stunning image ade. Wonderful vibrant sunset colours and interesting sky. Great composition. Wondering if the slight blur on the left has anything to do with the slower shutter speed? I don't know - that's why I'm asking. Or do you think it IS the lens? I love the stunning blues graduating to the pink tones. Just breathtaking. Cheers - Ann :)
