About I enjoy taking photos of all sorts of roads and pathways. We all have our quirks I guess. :) This road is the road to Death Valley (one of them) and I kept asking "Are we there yet?" because it seemed to just go on forever out in the middle of absolutely nowhere. In close circles we call this Ann's roadkill shot because I had to get on my belly for this one and there were some cars on the road at times. I had to jump up mid shot a few times to let cars pass. I actually went 2 hours drive to this road twice to get this photo again cause I wasn't happy with the quality of the first lot. I'm glad I did cause I like the infinity of this road. Sorry for the wordy "about" for just a road shot but this one has sentimental value for me. :) Oh I also did it in B&W but thought I'd post the colour. Will post the B&W some other time maybe. Cheers all - Ann :)

This is a very attractive picture with very nice details! The blue sky and the road have a mystery harmony! It’s a very eye-catching image in deed! Endless!
I would also show my appreciation for all your comments and encouragements.
Wish you a nice journey!

Anything for a 'Sheila' from 'Down Under' ... Now put a couple of shrimps on the barbie for me but don't invite any other 'Blokes'!

The merging lines on a downhill slope lead the eye to the beginning of a rugged section of road.
Very effective. Thanks for sticking with it. Knowing this makes your image even more attractive to the viewer.

First of all thank you for all your "about"s,wordy or not, I feel so much addicted to them I'm beginning to wonder which I'd like to see first.
Secondly all I could do was to add this superb
photo to my favories. It very much reminds me of the movie "Paris Texas".
Thank you for the worth while trouble you went through for taking it.

I love these shots of your country Ann. The immensity of everything is staggering.
Yes, the lines coming from the corners do improve
but I'd like £5 (about$9) for every overlooked point that I've been guilty of. Well done Ann I still think it's a cracking shot with a lovely story behind it....Very best wishes...Ray

Great shot Ann! Taking the lines to the corners really made a difference. I love the tips we can learn from others images. Very well done...I love the story behind it as well. I can relate to that! :)

I know I wanted to make it to Death Valley again this year but in the spring snow storms and rain prevented me from going when we had a 3 day weekend. Too hot when I went by in September. Excellent capture and photograph.

On your belly, huh? Anything for the shot! This certainly has a feeling of infinity...is that how kids feel when they ride for hours, and the reason behind their "Are we there yet?"
I like Doug's saturation adjustment, the little "kick" seems to give it a boost.
Keep gettin' those shots Ann!

Wonderful symmetric composition.

I hv been twice to Death Valley and still cant get enough of it...It's a beautiful place. I have similar shots of this road. Perhaps next time I intend to try getting more closer to the road and then taking this shot..wonder how that might look.

Thanks Douglas, Good tweaking on your part. I didn't even think to take the whitle lines to the corners. Works for me. DV can be hazy because of the vast distances so the saturation bump was an enhancement that was needed and another I hadn't considered. Good improvements. I enjoy the alternate title and 2 variations like that too. Thank you for taking the time to "tweak" for me and comment. Cheers - Ann :)

Ann,

I remember hitch hiking on this stretch of road in the very early seventies when no one would give me a ride and it took me twelve hours to walk the complete distance as per the caption of the attached ... :))

Just kidding of course but I cropped a bit off the top and bottom taking the white shoulder paint straight into the corners and then bumped up the saturation a bit because your posted version is a bit flat imho, but what would I know about color? I tried it in B&W also but it only looks good at 12:00 A.M. ... believe me!

Thanks for sharing and Best of Regards!
