About Blue heron, Lake Martin, 1/500@4.0, ISO 400.

Wish I had enought PS knowledge to be able to clone out the branch in the foreground but I probably would have messed up his feet! Any suggestions?

You are a perfectionist--that's why you have such marvelous pictures. If you hadn't mentioned the branch, I would have just seen another terrific shot. I see some have done some cloning for you and their results are great. However, the small difference the branch makes does not detract from your wonderful shot.

Wonderful Darlene. it looks great even with the branch in front, as it doe snot obliterate the feet altogether, only a small part. I see you have have had some experts work on it with great results too. Lovely colours and detail.

I just try, and result, even if it's not as great as the original, wasn't so bad. If you want to send me the original pic, maybe I can do better than that. Anyway, you're welcome to write me at: brizboa@hotmail.com

Best regards.

Excellent shot, Darlene. I spent the better part of yesterday watching a few of these handsome birds feeding in one of our local conservation areas. A fight broke out at one point with lots of loud squawking and a mid air attack that knock one of them into the water.

I think I have the same knee problems as him, too. ;^)

Hi Darlene,
I wouldn't worry about the branch myself. It looks great the way it is. I took a shot of one of these guys today, but this one puts mine to shame. (I was a little too far away)

I don't think the branch detracts in any way from this photo. I love the lighting and the b/g. Nice job.

Well, I've had a go, Darlene.
It's not perfect because I've obviously only got the lo-res version, but here it is?
It might be a small improvement, but your picture is fabulous!
Well done.
Best regards, Chris

I Love the Natural beauty of your shots Darlene. I don't think you needed to remove the branch, I think it is a very realistic and natural shot. and VERY well presented as usual. Congrats Sam...I could send you a Tutorial of how to do it. If you would like...It is rather easy.
Best Regards

Wonderfully dignified and well-dressed bird. I am a model of inconsistency when it comes to altering the original image. It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. I take comfort in knowing that picture have been altered from the very beginning of photography. Often, it is not to deceive but to express the truth of the image. Anyway, here's my take on your terrific picture . . .

Best wishes,
--George

Thanks Ray! Sounds like you've got the same problems I do in PS, guess it just takes time (lots of time!) And I've got CS2 but never heard of the vanishing point but you can bet I'll go check it out! Hope your weekend is full of great things! Darlene

Another excellent shot, Darlene! I think the branch is fine there, it's all part of the habitat!

Hi Darlene. I love the shot as is but I can understand why you want to try some PS..Run some copies and try try try again and again. I'm still very much a novice myself but I do try a lot of cloning..also healing brush techniques. Vanishing Point in CS2 has got me baffled just now but I'll keep on trying.
I think your nature shots are terrific, you think the branch is an imperfection I think it's a part of a beautiful scene and would leave it...Very best wishes....Ray

I think it is great like it is....I am like you, I don't know much about photo shop and with wild animals and birds it's hard to get the "perfect shot",due to so many things but you are one of the best. I always feel like I am tampering with nature if I try to take things out...chuckle! Thanks for sharing :) Pat

Great shot. That is a tough clone to do without effecting the beauty of this shot.

Very beautiful and exceptional work!

I think your results here are perfect by leaving the branch..outstanding.

jacques brisebois   {K:73883} 10/2/2005
... we can see the search of perfection from you Darlene. I will try my best, and show you the result if it's OK, but just like that, it's another very beautiful pic.
