Spooky! Hi Bradley, been a while! I like this series, it's very moody and unsettling. Strange really as all it really is is old wood and brick. You've done a great job of conveying the feeling I imagine you had whilst in this place. Reminds me of a magazine article I saw a while back of a similar place. Good work fella - hope you're well.

Michael, no flash...no auxilliary light source. Just really super slow shutter speeds, to pick up all available light, and a lot of post processing with contrast and light levels. I'm glad you like it, and appreciate your feedback! ..Brad

Brad, well, the lighting is throwing me off a little here, and that?s a good thing, did you have an aux light source pointed at that wall? Behind the tub? With an on camera flash to balance out the light coming from the window? Or was that another window there with sunlight coming through? Anyway?s, it?s a good picture with a great description, ?The floors so cool and clean, against my wet face? your description haunt?s this image. I can feel it. ~Mike

Hi Brad,
that tilt really makes the image. there is not so much mystery in the image as in previous ones. this one shows very much the destruction side. and the destruction of brains as well.
awesome.

Two things make this really stand out: first, the composition, very artistic the tilt. Second, the color palette. A touching, arousing photo.

Nice photo of a challenging subject, Bradley. I like the textures and the light, but the idea of framing this with a tilt is quite insightful. It enhances the derelict state, adds some dynamism and reinforces the "unhinged" nature of the subject.

like thoughts of deep tearing sorrow of grief and its fallout...now it is where the sun spills into the interior and over its objects...
tilt, texture and light all work well here...also like the contrasting washed-out view... good work,Brad....regards,gayle

Charisse..you are very kind. Yes, it was very scary. Being alone in this huge, unlit maze of a building(s) is very unsettling. Negotiating across rotted floors with huge holes in them is also nerve wracking. The disgusting filth that I have NOT described to anyone, was the most revolting thing of all. Add to it, the signs all over the outside of the buildings that warn of cancer-causing asbestos throughout the buildings, and the whole thing was very unpleasant. However....it was totally, completely irresistable. My heart pounded more from excitement, than fear.

Thank you for sharing this series...very moving images, every single one of them. And I just want to add that I cannot believe you laid on the floor to get some of those shots...ICK! That (and the doll) gave me the biggest creeps!! Congrats, Brad, very well done! Looking forward to more!

Wow Brad this is so deep and so sad. It's difficult to comprehend the depth of despair those people must have felt, but this image, along with your words tell the story. The debris is very illustrative of obstacles to overcome. I also get a feeling of how unsafe they must have felt, clutter, and things falling apart, must have been how they felt inside. Fragile and desperate...very nicely done my friend...Linda

The wreckage of the human soul is palpable in this image, your poetry lyrical despair; painful, insightful...the combination makes me hurt all over. An unforgettable series.
I recently read the lyrics to a song by porcupine tree...they pale beside your verse, but I offer them nonetheless:
darkness
i won't shiver in the cold i won't let the shadows take their toll i won't cover my head in the dark and I won't forget you when we part
collapse the light into earth
i won't heal given time i won't try to change your mind i won't feel better in the cold light of day but I won't stop you if you want to stay
collapse the light into earth

Dear Brad,Biliana says ut all I cannot express...could come directly from my heart. As if the picture is not sad enough...omg...your words! The strange thing is,if I would not know it is an asylum...it just would be an old delapidated house..really have problems to express what I mean. Hugs,Ursula

How hard it must be to search for hope when trapped in such madness. I see a bit of hope with the window-but look at all there is lying before it, not so easy to escape. Nicely done Brad~
