I think aesthetically, I would have just cloned out the bright strands of hair across her neck that are just a minor distraction.

I like it Steven. The composition is different, but I think it's effective. IMO the strong line from her shirt leads your eye right up to her profile. I also like having her hair as the background. I think it may also look nice in a square presentation.
