About As if losing all wasn't enough, now the insurance companies are saying if the residents didn't pay for federal flooding policies, then no payments will be given out for them to relocate or rebuild!...many in slightly higher elevation lost their homes to high winds, falling trees and debris as well as flooding...class action suits will be filed, but the people do not expect to win against the huge and powerful insurance industry...

Some good news: i did a search on UF to identify members who live in the gulf coast to find out their status...am happy to say i heard back from about 5 who either evacuated before Katrina hit,and/or survived and are now staying with friends/relatives...

Even when the aftermath of Katrina is no longer the "focus of news",we must not forget that the people will still need help in many ways to rebuild their lives...

Backlit flag with just a ray of hope breaking through the cloud cover...

comments/critiques appreciated

I was outraged to hear that about the insurance companies. As if the flood weren't caused by the storm. I think the flag hanging limply in your photo is an excellent symbol of what's going on. And in addition to all that, I have to say I really like your new bio picture. Too bad it's not bigger.

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.... nice message Gayle, we must take care of our brothers & sisters who have lost all. Thanks for the good news also. Wonderful shot, wonderful message. Dottie

Hi Gayle,

I like the composing with the focused flagg and the outlined nature in the background... creates a good link between the elements.

your work is really awesome.

Hugs, Thilo

An inspiring shot, Gayle, and once again...your giving nature is a shot of hope for those who face such odds. You have a warm heart...

Very symbolic, Gayle. After the storm we just wait for some calm moments... not another storm of problems... The flag is like all the strenght is gone... :-(
But as Susie said, there is always hope!!!
I wish that better times will come soon to all of them, as a new and bright day.

Hugs,
Márcia.
