Stunning.. it doesn't look real... something from a Tolkien dream, perhaps. Love the reflective water and the interesting colour of it. The trees sure have weird roots, or at least bases... they also go on forever!!! Great capture!

This is a very nice image! My grandpa was an avid fisherman, and I was his partner many a time. He loved Reelfoot lake and shared it with me once. I was young enough then that my memory tends to fade, but looking at this picture brings it all back again.
I especially like the randomness of the debris in the foreground. The lighting, in my opinion is nearly perfect. This photo has a mystical quality that just makes me want to stare at it and remember those days. What more could you ask of a photo?

Brigitte, I like going to Reelfoot Lake and taking some sunsets there. There are some very, very, isolated places there as well I'm sure you may know.
I drove down a road to what they call in that area the observation deck. Only one way in and one way out. Water on both sides of the road going in. Very weird place. I was the only one there, and didn't have anything but a camera with me.
I did not stay for the sunset that day ;). I can't wait for the eagles this winter.

Thank you James & Dave for the kind remarks. James, yes, it is a very moody place..... first time I ever saw these type of trees.... I was expecting to see a swamp monster to emerge between the trees at any moment! Dave, it was very cold out there but the lake was not frozen....it was over Thanksgiving weekend and the peak of the fall foliage had just passed and it was beginning to feel wintery for sure. The day was very cloudy, almost as if it was about to drizzle, thus the odd glare off the water. I hesitated to even post this photo because of the muted colors and (to me) lack of detail in the image, but a friend who really liked this photo convinced me to post it to see what type of feedback I'd get. Actually I'm surprised at the good feedback I got from you both. If you ever get a chance to go to Tennessee, you have to see this place and bring a long lens since this is a major nesting sight for the Bald Eagles. You can go see Memphis and see Elvis' Graceland at the same time.... all great photo areas.

Yeah, memorable, makes you want to be there. Somehow the water looks cold, almost frozen. Or, maybe it's just the climate outside tonight, as I look at my computer screen. Was the water iced over, or is that just harsh glare off the water surface?

Bridgette, this is awesome to say the least. I love this image. Very good eye for balance and depth of view. Colors are very nice. I love the muted quaility of the light. I can smell the swamp and feel the coolness. Very wintery feel too. Love it. Encore, encore. james
