About I was gardening when I came across this moth on the rocks, so I grabbed the camera and took some pics. A few minutes later it was eaten by a bird.

Wheweee, this is one of the most incredible macros I've ever seen. The detail is spectacular and the DOF is perfect right across the subject. What a pity it was eaten by a bird soon after. But then that is nature for you. Well done Ann.

Go the bird! Am deathly afraid of moths. Particularly Bogongs. You've certainly captured one of the things I don't miss about aussie!!

Cheers

hi there, playing catch up with comments since have been in and out lately...had to laugh about your neighbor/rock comment as i,too, get some odd looks from people wondering why i am so interested in a shadow on a building,or an old fence post..hehehe....you did a great job capturing all of the details and textures,Ann...the dof is perfection,too...this is what i call a macro! One of the best of the insect shots on UF IMO...truly!...regards,gayle 7+

Thanks, Larry. I was surprised, too, although he did put his wings down and lay flat after I took a couple of shots. I must have looked funny to the neighbours, laying stretched out on the ground taking photos of a rock. Cheers, Ann.
