About this series was/is a very personal series for me. It started as something else, and really moved into the fact that women really are oppressed. Not in every society, however the mistreatment of women is a global crisis. I generally don't get political, but I feel it necessary to make some sort of statement to this. I really feel that as artists we have a responsibility to make statements through our art. This happens to be mine right noow. Too many women today look like this because of the actions of someone they love, and it is time it stopped.

I hope that all the little ironies that went into this iamge make themselves apparent to you. And I hope that all of us can somehow, strive to make a difference. Wether it is our talents, our time, our ability to listen, our generosity or our experience, I hope we can lend it to a cause greater than ourselves.

hey Judi, yes... this one really affected me a lot... one thing for sure seeing someone i work a great deal with in this condition, even though it is only make up and for the dark palce in which she went to give herself the sad look had a serious impact on me... further, just the nature of this injustice just...well just affects me...

thank you so much Kelly... i rarely get political but i think as this progressed i had a moment of clarity where as if i could actually make someone feel as i did looking at her that would be an effective tool... i can only hope....

Very true statement Bryan, and if we make people aware and speak out, then it may help someone somewhere...as for the photo, it is very real...

Btw, you really have a great camera, I just think a good prime lens would make your shots even better, because a cheap lens on a state of the art camera really does't work;).

I think it's excellent, however I think it would be better in horisontal format, so you wouldn't cut off her arms. And a bit more sharpness is needed. A bit overexposed at some parts.
But the message is clear and I really support your work, very well done!
