The injury didn't seem to bother this butterfly all that much. It was able to fly just fine, but it is a shame when they get hurt like this.

I've always wondered if insects are cognisant of their injuries like this for example... I wonder how much self awareness they have? Clear and detailed shot Laurie. Excellent composition - the butterfly is in the perfect spot in the frame IMHO.
