Thanks, Ned. For a macro like this, F8 is quite wide open. I could max it out by going to F/5.6, but after that, one really gets very abstract results. In this case, I had set up my camera at ISO400, so that I could try to capture the chameleon catching something with its tongue (which is lightning fast) in crisp detail. The flash when using ISO100 is much brighter and emits light for longer, and therefor doesn't always freeze motion like I want it to...

lovely!
The details are sharp and the colours are vivid!
The only thing is that, i think, the DOF is large! Perhaps you could go for ISO 100 and larger aperture opening to blur the background more. It's a very nice shot though.
Best wishes,
ned

Hi Larry. An additional comment - these chameleons are lovely creatures, last Sunday, I found 4 of them in the garden - 3 of them in one bush. Usually you are lucky to find even one. They change their skin colour to blend into their surroundings really well - their only major form of defence....

Great shot Bryan with nice detail and wonderful colours. (looks like a cape dwarf chameleon - Bradypodion pumilum). Well done.
