Now this is great Sue. Maybe because I'm having a bit of a foxglove moment myself? The low viewpoint and repeating forms come together very well to create a strong image. Well done!

I wanted to give this a surreal feel, think the finished product worked really well... those plants make excellent silhouettes & the sun & sky behind could not have been more perfect in this one.

Thank you Ian... your comment is greatly appreciated. A few people of late have commented that this frame style distracts them from the image, so it's really good to get some positive feedback for this. I guess at the end of the day it's the photo that counts, though I must say I do enjoy creating frames to add to the photo's... em... I do tend to get rather carried away at times though )
Love how you have mentioned the illusion in this picture as that is what I was aiming for.

Hi Sue, to me this is a typical moonlightshot, even though it is a sunlight composition. The effect of the blue cloudy background and the flowers in stark sillouette give the composition an aura of mystery, compounded by the effect of the framing with it's lighting and shadow effect.I think the framing is so well done and it adds an illusion like that of a Tretchikoff painting.A truly artistic photographic achievement. Thank you for your comment Sally... I have been playing with my frames again... though you are the second person to comment they find this distracting on one of my photo's... I quite like this effect, though can see why others find it distracting so think I may leave this out of my photo's for UF now.
We have had a gorgeous sunny weekend... lets hope this time it stays for a while.

Haha... great minds think alike! Nicely done Sue and an excellent shot for Abstracts and Silhouettes. Love the composition and exposure. Those really do look like huge Foxgloves! Wonderful shot!

It was a gorgeous day today - and you've photo'd a very bold silhouette - perfect for the category!
I think the bevel bit of the frame would be better if it were totally opaque - it looks good at the top, but on the lower half I found it a bit distracting.
Looks like you had a good day - can't wait to see the rest of your photos!

Thanks John... I have been taking photo's of these flowers in silhouette for the past couple of weeks & I've never posted one as I just felt something was missing... today I managed to capture this one with the sun behind & new it was now complete... so glad you like it.

Thanks Keith... yes another great day at the gardens with some excellent shots to put on here over the next few weeks (Em... 214 were taken... think I got somewhat carried away.. lol)
Met a friend for a relaxing afternoon & coffee.. oh & the kids got soaked as per usual in this place ) So glad I live local.... after the events here this week really needed a break.
